We are the office of the Ombud for Financial Services Providers. This office has been established in an effort to protect consumers from bad or inappropriate advice when it comes to the financial services. We were established as a result of Section 20 of the Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act 37 of 2002, (the Act).
How can the FAIS Ombud assist me?
The office is here to consider and dispose of complaints by clients against Financial Services Providers in a manner which is:
- procedurally fair
- informal
- economical and
- quick
In dealing with the complaint, the Ombud will consider the contractual arrangements or other legal relationship between the parties to the complaint and the provisions of the Act.
